I had the privilege of copyediting three books published by Modern San Diego, ensuring clarity, precision, and cohesion while preserving the voice and intent of each work. These books—The Sensuous Environment: Sim Bruce Richards Architect, Craig Ellwood: Furniture, and Craig Ellwood: Remembering the Thin Man—delve into the stories of some of modern architecture’s most influential figures, illuminating their legacies and contributions to design.

Keith York’s The Sensuous Environment explores the life and work of Sim Bruce Richards, a master of warm, organic modernism, while Craig Ellwood: Furniture provides a detailed look at the sleek, minimalist furniture designs of the famed architect. Craig Ellwood: Remembering the Thin Man, based on the unpublished manuscript of architect Ernie Jacks, offers a deeply personal account of Jacks’ decades-long relationship with Ellwood and insight into Ellwood’s lasting impact on modern architecture.

My role in these projects was to refine and elevate the text—maintaining historical and technical accuracy while ensuring accessibility for a broad audience of design enthusiasts, historians, and architects. These books, published under the banner of Modern San Diego, contribute to the preservation and celebration of San Diego’s modernist heritage, and I’m honored to have played a part in bringing these narratives to life.
